The Terrebonne Parish School Board Buildings, Food Service and Transportation Committee on June 26 approved a set of routine contract items, including a renewal of a Head Start meal-preparation agreement, notices to proceed for two elementary school secondary drop-off projects and a change order to replace alarms and detectors at Village East Elementary.
The committee recommended and the board approved renewal of an agreement with Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government to prepare Head Start meals at Legion Park Elementary, Shriever Elementary and Southdown Elementary for the 2026–27 school year. Mr. Dehart moved the renewal and the chair seconded; no public comment was offered and the chair stated there were no objections, approving the item by unanimous consent.
The committee also authorized notices to proceed for two secondary student drop-off projects. Members approved issuing a notice to proceed to GFP Design for a secondary drop-off at Upper Little Caillou Elementary and a separate notice to proceed to the Merlin Group for a secondary drop-off at Grand Cailou Elementary. Each item established a project budget of $363,983, with funds to be derived from FEMA improved project funding ($327,584.70) and local funds ($36,398.30). Miss Dehart moved the Upper Little Caillou item; Mr. Dehart moved the Grand Cailou item. Superintendent Butler explained that the original school designs included a single drop-off and that FEMA funding presented an opportunity to add a dedicated parent drop-off lane to improve safety.
On the Village East Elementary HVAC replacement, the committee approved Change Order No. 1 to replace corridor horns/strobes and all smoke detectors; the transcript lists the amount on the record as "$9,9940." Superintendent Butler said the alarm systems were removed previously and the replacements need to be uniform on a single system for safety. The change order is to be paid from the district building fund.
