Harmony EDA to seek $5.5 million LCCMR grant for proposed bike trail

Giesen said no bills had yet been introduced at the state Capitol to provide other funding for the trail; Steve Donney, identified in the minutes as mayor, said he would reach out to legislators to inquire about the status of any bills. Giesen said he would schedule meetings with appropriate Capitol committee members once bills are introduced and seek local volunteer support for the project.
Giesen described the $5.5 million request as intended to cover estimated project costs and inflation adjustments calculated using a state agency construction tool. The board discussed the application and gave staff consensus to proceed with the grant submission and to present a resolution authorizing the submission to the city council at its March meeting.
Action and next steps: staff will finalize and submit the LCCMR application by March 31 and return to council with a resolution authorizing the request; the next EDA meeting is April 6, 2023.
