Local telco says Harmony fiber-to-home rollout will finish in 2023

Jill Huffman and Jacqui VanMinsel of Harmony Telephone, Spring Grove Communications, MiBroadband and Mabel Telephone updated the Harmony Economic Development Authority on Feb. 2 about a local fiber-to-the-home project.
They said the companies now have 22 employees across three locations and reported that the southeast quadrant of Harmony will be ready to “turn on” soon, with the southwest and north sides following. "The entire project should be done in 2023," the representatives told the board, and local Harmony employees will help install equipment in residents’ homes.
The presentation came during the board’s regular meeting at the Community Center, where members also heard from regional partners about economic programs and community projects. The companies’ representatives described the roll‑out timeline and workforce capacity but did not provide a detailed construction schedule for each street segment.
Board members did not ask for or record a formal motion on the broadband update; the briefing was entered for information. The board’s minutes show the topic was presented and discussed, and the EDA’s staff said they will continue to track progress and report updates to the board.
