Janette Simon, Community Health Planner with Des Moines Valley Health and Human Services, presented two short films produced as part of the "Belonging Begins With Us" initiative at the May 5 Jackson City Council meeting.
Simon said the program centers on social connection and that John Noltner, CEO and founder of the "Peace of My Mind" project, spent April 20–24 in Jackson and Windom conducting events. She reported approximately 315 attendees across the week's events and screened two films that feature area residents discussing moments when they felt belonging.
Simon said the videos will be posted at a safe location and made accessible via the Des Moines Valley Health and Human Services website and promoted through community channels. She thanked the Mayor and Council for supporting the program and invited the city to use insights from the films in community planning.
