City schedules no-cost fall clean-up drop-off for Sept. 26

The Jackson City Council on April 7 approved a no-cost, centralized fall clean-up drop-off day provided by Waste Management and scheduled the event for Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026.
Interim City Administrator Bret Heitkamp told the council the company offered two possible dates (Sept. 19 or Sept. 26) for a single centralized drop-off, at no cost to the city. Heitkamp said the only costs to residents would be tags required for oversized items such as large mattresses or appliances; residents can purchase those tags in advance from City Hall. Heitkamp said city staff is coordinating with county representatives on the site layout.
Alderman Nathan Peterson moved (PETERSON/FOSTER) to select Sept. 26 because the Jackson Nationals event falls on Sept. 19; the council approved the motion unanimously. City staff will finalize the layout and publicize drop-off procedures and any tag prices in advance.
