Howe said the district began planning in spring 2023, gathered input from students, staff, families and graduates and that "over 1000 people shared their feedback." The board approved the plan in June 2024.
Howe summarized priorities including meeting diverse learner needs, strengthening sense of belonging and connectedness, and preparing students for college-level coursework. Howe said a large share of students take AP courses and that PSEO participation is reported at about 3 percent. She also noted that many families opt out of state MCA testing for varied reasons and that 89 percent of students took the ACT.
Mayor Johnson asked about the levy and Howe confirmed the district is considering options ahead of a levy that "runs out in 2026." The presentation was informational; no action by the council was recorded.
