Neighbors raise safety and code concerns; council refers 5-space parking application to committee

The Revere City Council referred a license application to committee after multiple residents voiced support and opposition for a plan to create five onsite parking spaces at a property referenced as 13 Nan/Hunt.

Applicant testimony began with support from a woman who identified herself as Jenny, who said the extra spaces would reduce illegal street parking and congestion. The applicant, who identified himself as Mark, told councilors the spaces were intended for residents and would be allocated under contract rather than on a first-come basis.

Neighbors raised safety and code concerns. One speaker said alarms and frequent vehicle presence had disturbed the neighborhood, and another identified an alleged code violation ("violación de código 29D"). "Para mí, personalmente creo que esto no debería de ser aprobado porque le va a afectar a las residentes," said a neighbor opposing the application.

The applicant responded that he had submitted requested documents to the city secretary, that most vehicles on the site were personal and belonged to him while site cleanup and removals occurred, and that he possessed a DPU permit for certain operations.

Given conflicting testimony on operational practices, site safety and outstanding paperwork, the council voted to send the application to committee for further review, including zoning and inspection follow-up. Council directions included sending the application to the zoning department first and returning any required permit details to council for consideration.
