Titonka council OKs TNR pilot, pool staffing rules, roof quote and park improvements

The Titonka City Council on June 12 granted permission for a resident-led trap–neuter–return program, approved pool staffing and admission exceptions, and authorized multiple maintenance and program measures including a roof replacement quote.
Resident Hilary Ziols spoke to the council "about the need for a trap, neuter, return program for Titonka, to reduce cat overpopulation." Following her remarks, the council approved a motion (moved by Mike Fredrickson, seconded by Mike Etherington) permitting Ziols to plan, organize and act on a TNR program for the city.
The council also approved a motion allowing the pool committee to continue hiring lifeguards at its discretion (moved by Katie Prothman, seconded by Fredrickson) and separately approved allowing a family's nanny to accompany children covered by that family's season pass.
On facilities, the council authorized replacing the shelter-house water heater and purchasing one used refrigerator each for the shelter house and the pool bathhouse. It approved a quote from Jaeger Associates to replace the gymnasium roof with continuous steel at a price not to exceed $59,773.00.
Councilmembers also approved moving the skate-park fence and painting pickleball court lines, and voted to enforce sidewalk maintenance requirements for property owners. The council accepted IAMU’s MunEEBuck$ program for residential gas customers and approved a little food lending box offered by community health.
Most motions carried unanimously among present members (4 ayes, 0 nays) with one absence recorded. The meeting adjourned at 9:02 p.m.
