Titonka council approves Indian Days street closures and several event permits

The Titonka City Council on June 12 approved street closures for Indian Days and granted outdoor-service permits and other event-related approvals for local businesses and community groups.
Councilmember Mike Etherington moved and Councilmember Katie Prothman seconded a motion to close multiple streets for Indian Days on Saturday, June 21, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Streets included 1st Avenue NE (Main Street North to Beed Street), Main Street North (1st Avenue NE/NW to 6th Avenue NE/NW), 6th Avenue NW (Main Street to Ripley Street) and Ripley Street NW (6th Avenue to 1st Avenue), plus the 100 block of 5th Avenue NE and Dieckman Street for Saturday activities. The motion carried 4-0-1 (Sara Hamilton absent).
The council approved Titonka Food Center’s cigarette permit renewal and granted Titonka Brewing Company an expanded outdoor service area for July 22, 2025. The council also approved an outdoor-service agreement for Smidty’s on July 20 and approved outdoor service for Smidty’s, Reeb’s and the Titonka Fire Department on July 22 pending dram-shop approval. Council approved a request from Good Hope to borrow tables for the Quasquicentennial; such requests will be considered case by case.
Several event approvals were recorded as standard permits and will be subject to any required dram-shop or licensing clearances before activation.
