Ada County EMS records first GMT payment; plans to buy replacement cardiac monitors

Ada County Emergency Medical Services announced June 23 that the district has received its first Ground Emergency Medical Transport (GMT) payment and intends to record the funds as unanticipated revenue to purchase the first half of replacement cardiac monitors.
An EMS representative said the county was told the GMT payment was coming and has now received the amount, which will cover replacement of half of the cardiac monitors that have reached end-of-service life. "We've seen it. We're going to bring it on as unanticipated revenue for the year and buy the first half of replacement cardiac monitors," the EMS representative said. Staff explained the payment covers prior years (a payment nine months from 2023) and that additional payments covering 2024 and 2025 are still expected.
The EMS representative described GMT as a Medicaid-related recovered-cost mechanism, explaining it represents a percentage of additional recovered money for ground transports of Medicaid patients after analysis of actual costs. Staff also noted proposed statewide changes to GMT calculations that could affect future payments; Ada County is monitoring the potential change and expects minimal impact because the county has used a detailed cost analysis.
Other EMS items: staff said Peregrine software rollout and training continue and the department will hold an all-staff meeting to brief personnel on ongoing changes and new systems. The EMS session adjourned after the updates.
