Blair council narrows no-parking zone on Meadow Drive to preserve emergency access and parking

The Blair City Council adopted resolution 2026-074 on June 23 to amend no-parking regulations on Meadow Drive and adjacent streets in the Still Meadows neighborhood. Mr. Heaton (staff) described a narrowed plan from an earlier, more extensive prohibition: the new rule would prohibit parking 20 feet past the end of the curve to create room for fire trucks and large apparatus while preserving more parking for residents.
Council members praised staff and council member Highfill for responding to resident concerns and noted the fire department will run apparatus tests after signage is installed to verify access. The motion to adopt the resolution passed with all council members recorded voting in the affirmative.
Implementation: Public Works will install no-parking signage and the city will coordinate a fire-department test run to determine whether further adjustments are needed. Staff indicated any changes would be subject to follow-up reports to the council.
