Ada County commissioners approve Secure Rural Schools payment distribution, Boise River cost-sharing, courthouse pump contract and a slate of routine items

The Ada County Board of Commissioners on June 23 approved multiple resolutions, contracts and routine agenda items, including a formal election to accept Secure Rural Schools Act (SRSA) funds, a cost-sharing agreement for the Boise River float season and a low-bid award for a courthouse pump replacement.
Resolution 3208: The Board opened and closed the public hearing on Resolution 3208, the SRSA election, with no public speakers. A commissioner explained the program's purpose: "Secure Rural Schools Act ... when federal government decided not to harvest so much timber, that impacted our rural schools," and said the county's modest payment must be dedicated to roads and schools; the motion to approve carried.
Resolution 3219: The Board approved Resolution 3219 to authorize Ada County's cost share with the city of Boise for services tied to the 2026 Boise River float season, including debris/ snag mitigation and a public-facing website. Scott Colberg, participating by remote connection, said the Float the Boise partnership provides debris mitigation and outreach and that the county receives good value from the collaboration.
Procurement and contracts: Procurement recommended awarding bid 26049 (Ada County Courthouse Pump Replacement) to Acco Engineered Systems as the lowest responsive bidder at $179,150; the Board approved the award. Procurement opened bids for bid 26050 (vehicle/grounds/mosquito/parking project) with eight bidders and asked to table award to June 30, 2026 to allow full review.
Other approvals: The Board approved a casualty-loss tax cancellation for Louise Hudson following a total-loss house fire (taxes prorated from the incident date and the improvement removed for 2026), approved catering permits, new licenses and renewals, authorized payment of claims dated June 19, 2026, approved agreements for Expo Idaho/Western Idaho Fair and Barber Park, approved indigent services recommendations and approved several change orders and routine contracts on the agenda.
What to expect: Most items were approved by voice vote during the meeting; staff will proceed with contract administration and re-notification where required (including the procurement tabling schedule and the Aug. 12 planning hearing for the reopened record).
