The Lake of the Woods School District board approved multiple personnel actions and contracts at its May 20 meeting, including non‑renewals, a leave placement, routine resignations and the school nurse contract.
Board members approved resolution 20 2322 24-37 to non‑renew probationary teacher Kirby borgan; the matter was decided by roll-call vote after a board member asked whether to abstain because of a family connection. The board also approved non‑renewal of two paraprofessionals (named in the packet) by roll call. In addition, the board approved the resignations of a longtime bus driver (Gale FZ) and appointed Amanda Ren as a special-education teacher.
The board placed continuing-contract employee Dena Stenberg on unrequested leave of absence with recall rights discussed; members clarified that the leave would take effect with the end of the contract year and that recall rights extend five years.
The board approved the 2023–2025 school nurse contract. During discussion members identified date and duration inconsistencies in the packet and confirmed that the intended contract period is July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2025; the board directed staff to correct the contract language in the signature pages and noted the board approved the corrected intent.
The board also accepted two donations for the district backpack program: $28.75 from WTIC Lutheran Church and $220 from Wanic Lutheran Church. These donations were approved by voice vote with thanks from the board.
All personnel and contract motions recorded in the meeting carried; roll-call records were used where required by statute for non‑renewals and unrequested‑leave actions.
Provenance: personnel and contract approvals are recorded across the transcript; non‑renewal resolution and roll call at SEG 1395–1418, paraprofessionals at SEG 1420–1430, donations at SEG 1431–1486, unrequested leave at SEG 1461–1476, and the nurse contract discussion at SEG 1509–1679.
