At the May 21 meeting of the Town of Plymouth Committee of Precinct Chairs, Chair Matt Tavares announced he will not seek re-election as chair and thanked members and staff for their support.
Tavares reviewed administrative items: the last day to sign up for a board or committee was May 22; precinct re-organization elections must occur within 20 days of appointment (noted as June 8 in the meeting); and the Committee on Precinct Chairs (COPC) has 30 days for certain actions and follow-up (the date of the next COPC meeting was given as the relevant timing reference). He cited accomplishments during his tenure, including the Town Meeting handbook and establishment of a legislative oversight committee, and expressed appreciation for COPC coordinator Kristin Ford.
During public comment, Steve Lydon said a sister-city delegation of 13 students and delegates will arrive July 29, and noted a 250th-year committee ceremony scheduled for Saturday, June 27 at 1 p.m. Precinct 13 (Ron Reilly) requested the Simes House be added to the next agenda, and Precinct 1 (Chris Pratt) asked the group to recognize the recent death of Charles "Charlie" Vandini, a longtime community figure. Pat Adelmann shared a recollection of Vandini and thanked Chair Tavares for his service.
The meeting concluded on a motion by Wrestling Brewster to adjourn at 8:50 p.m.; the motion passed unanimously by roll-call vote. The committee scheduled its next meeting for June 18, 2026, at 7 p.m.
