The Grundy Center City Council recorded several routine and procurement votes during its July 15 meeting.
The council approved the minutes of the July 1 regular and work sessions and the June 2024 Treasurer’s Report. The council approved the annual liquor license for Scotty’s Saloon, 806 G Avenue; that motion carried with four ayes and one abstention (Lamp).
On equipment purchases, the council approved Resolution 2024‑46 to buy a BEE III standard radar unit from MPH Industries, Inc. for $2,239; Interim Chief Natvig explained the radar will be paid with a private donation and installed in the new squad car prior to completion of other equipment. The motion carried five ayes.
Council tabled Resolution 2024‑47, which would authorize purchase of security camera systems for City Hall and the Community Center, after receiving seven quotes and requesting additional vendor clarification. The measure to table carried five ayes.
Mayor Eberline’s appointment of Brandy Bingman to the Community Center Board for a three‑year term ending June 30, 2027, was approved unanimously. Council adjourned at 7:35 p.m.; the next meeting is set for Aug. 5, 2024, at 6:30 p.m.
June 2024 expenditures and revenues were reviewed in detail: expenditures totaled $746,606 and revenues totaled $723,961.
