Titonka council adopts salaries resolution, authorizes sewer repairs and approves routine city business

Titonka — The Titonka City Council on July 10, 2025, adopted a resolution setting municipal salaries and handled a slate of routine city business, including authorizing limited emergency sewer repairs and approving vendor contracts and appointments. Mayor David LaGue called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
The council adopted “Resolution No. 25-26-01,” a resolution setting salaries for city positions. The motion to adopt was made by Council member Mike Etherington and seconded by Council member Mike Fredrickson. On roll call the council recorded aye votes from Etherington, Fredrickson, Sara Hamilton, Irvin Harms and Katie Prothman; there were no nays. The resolution passed and was adopted July 10, 2025.
Council also agreed to allow the sewer committee to approve emergency repairs at the city’s lift station as needed, with a spending cap of $10,000 for those emergency approvals. The meeting record does not identify a mover or seconder for that delegation; the council approved the action as recorded.
Other motions approved on unanimous 5-0 votes included authorization for pool fundraising events; allowing Laurie Lee to borrow city tables as a backup plan for RAGBRAI fundraising; approval of an alarm inspection contract with American Alarms; appointment of Kaci Farrow to the Titonka Public Library board; and selection of TP Anderson as the city’s accounting firm for the annual exam.
The council approved a $6,000 estimate from contractor Reutzel to repair a washout on Main Street. It also accepted a $100 bid from Tim Ricklefs for the city’s old generator and voted to cancel the city’s shredding service with Shred-It. Certificates of deposit rates and garbage, recycling and water rates were noted for discussion at the council’s August meeting.
City Clerk Karen Hamilton recorded receipts of $76,502.72 and expenses of $65,367.95 across municipal funds in the meeting record. The council adjourned at 8:17 p.m.
The council’s next regular meeting is expected to include discussion of CD, garbage/recycling and water rates as noted during the July 10 meeting.
