Board approves Oak Creek Engineering agreement for Project C-24(404) and reappoints two Visitors Committee representatives

Dawson County commissioners approved an engineering agreement with Oak Creek Engineering for 1 & 6 Year Project C-24(404), reappointed Heather Heinemann and Karan Smith to the Visitors Committee, and heard committee updates including a long-serving roads employee’s retirement. The Dawson County Board of Commissioners on June 22 approved an engineering services agreement with Oak Creek Engineering for the county’s 1 & 6 Year Project C-24(404).
Highway Superintendent Mark Christiansen presented the agreement; Commissioner Rod Reynolds moved to approve and Commissioner Kevin Swanson seconded. The motion carried unanimously and Chairman PJ Jacobson was authorized to execute the agreement.
Also on the consent track the board reappointed Heather Heinemann to represent Lexington on the Dawson County Visitors Committee for the 2026–2030 term and reappointed Karan Smith of Gothenburg with a term ending June 30, 2030. Both reappointments passed unanimously.
In committee reports Commissioner Kevin Swanson said the extension office air-conditioning unit failed and is being replaced. Commissioner Rod Reynolds reported that Tim Wolf of the roads department retired after 46 years of service. Chairman Jacobson gave a brief update on the Public Defender office.
Immediately after the commissioners’ meeting the board and the budget committee held a budget workshop in which budget sheets were presented and county officials, including District Judge Chawnta Durham, provided input; the workshop concluded at 11:40 a.m.
