New Richland council approves storm utility, zoning changes and other ordinances; certification of election results

The New Richland City Council on Nov. 12 voted to adopt a package of ordinances and resolutions addressing utilities, zoning and local regulation.
By voice vote the council approved ordinance 24‑03 establishing a storm utility, ordinance 24‑04 regulating the use of cannabis within the city, ordinance 24‑05 amending the C1 downtown commercial district, ordinance 24‑06 amending the C3 highway commercial district, and ordinance 24‑07 amending the industrial zone to allow manufacturing and retail sales. The council moved and seconded each ordinance and recorded each as approved by “all in favor.”
The council also adopted resolution 24‑23 to add a handicap parking space in front of Trinity church pursuant to section 610 of the city ordinances, and earlier in the meeting it approved resolution 24‑24 to certify the Nov. general election results and agreed to sign the canvass materials.
No individual roll‑call tallies were recorded in the public transcript; approvals were recorded by unanimous voice vote. The council agenda and staff packets indicate the ordinances will take effect as provided by ordinance language and applicable fee schedules (some fees, staff noted, will be set separately and take effect on Jan. 1 as provided by the fee schedule process).
