Milroy — The Milroy City Council approved two liquor licenses, unanimously adopted a resolution approving a tax-parcel split and accepted a $25 bid to purchase a decommissioned phone booth at its May 26 regular meeting.
Mayor Margaret Sik presided over the meeting. Council member Chris Schmitt moved and Mary Dahmes seconded approval of a 1–4-day liquor license for the Milroy Baseball Association; the motion passed unanimously. Schmitt and Dahmes also moved and seconded approval of a liquor license for the Oasis Bar and Grill; the council approved that motion unanimously.
In a separate vote, Dahmes moved and Schmitt seconded a motion to accept a $25 bid from guest Sharri VanDeWiele for a city phone booth. Dahmes, Schmitt, Lanny Sik and Mayor Margaret Sik voted to approve; Renee Zwach voted no. The motion carried by majority.
The council unanimously approved Resolution #9.2026, described at the meeting as “Approving Tax Parcel Split.” The council had earlier added the resolution to the agenda as a late item and moved it under New Business before voting.
Other routine consent items approved on the consent agenda included the April 27 regular meeting minutes, bills/ACH/payroll/receipts, Land Use Permit #3.2026 for 100 Euclid, Resolution #7.2026 establishing a fire escrow account and Resolution #8.2026 declaring surplus property.
The council did not add an equipment-breakdown endorsement to the city’s insurance renewal, and it tabled quotes for park parking-lot repairs until the June meeting. The council also noted that water and sewer rates will be addressed during the 2027 budget process.
The meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m. The minutes were later approved June 22, 2026 and signed by City Clerk/Treasurer Betsy Snyder.
