Township reviews Smokey Timbers driveway inclines, applies temporary fixes and schedules follow-up

Miltona Township supervisors addressed several local road and driveway access issues at their Sept. 9 meeting and followed up at an emergency road meeting on Sept. 28.
On Sept. 9 the minutes record that John Kramer contacted the township about his driveway off Smokey Timbers Road. Township representatives (identified in the minutes as Jeff and Jerome) met with Kramer; work described in the minutes included applying a heavy tack coat to the concrete and adding asphalt to soften the incline onto the road.
The Sept. 28 emergency road meeting convened specifically to look at inclines on two properties off Smokey Timbers Road. The board reviewed Kramer’s parcel (roughly 25 by 32 feet) and discussed options to soften the driveway approach. The minutes state Tom Bosl’s property is a few lots down with a less severe incline (roughly 21 feet to an existing crack in the concrete); Bosl was not present at the emergency meeting and the board asked that he email an estimate before the next monthly meeting.
Separately, the board discussed Sherman Olson’s request to install a mound septic system where two parcels are separated by a cartway. Tom Blank contacted the county engineer, who indicated the parcel belongs to the township; the board has contacted the township attorney to determine how to proceed.
The minutes also record a denied request from Mark Hanson seeking township assistance to pay for removal of a tree he says was killed by paving on E Lake Miltona Drive; the board denied the request because the tree had already been removed prior to the request. The minutes do not record technical engineering reports, cost estimates from vendors beyond Bosl’s pending estimate, or a final schedule for any further work.
The board asked staff to collect estimates and documentation and to place follow-up items on the next regular meeting agenda.
