Templeton fire chief reports 53 calls in 2024; council approves roster and budget projections

Fire Chief Duane Irlbeck presented the Templeton Community Fire Department’s 2024 annual run report during the Jan. 6 city council meeting, reporting 28 fires, 21 emergency medical service calls and 4 weather-related calls for a total of 53 responses.
The council reviewed the department’s fiscal-year ending June 30, 2024 income and expense report and on a motion by Council Member Tasha Goecke, seconded by Joe Irlbeck, accepted the FY25/26 proposed budget projections. Council then approved the department’s 2025 roster on a motion by Mark Bauer, seconded by Joe Irlbeck; the minutes record the motion carried unanimously.
The roster the minutes list includes volunteer and department members such as Jerry Behrens, Glen Irlbeck, Joe Behrens, Alan Kerkhoff, Jim Bruggeman, Eric Kerkhoff and others. The minutes also record related department expenditures approved via the consent agenda, including vehicle maintenance and fuel charges recorded among claims.
