Templeton council approves deed for 207 South 6th, sets hearing to sell 205 South 6th

At its Aug. 6 meeting the Templeton City Council approved a warranty deed transferring 207 South 6th Avenue to Mathu and Lacey Meiners for $9,500 and adopted a resolution to set a Sept. 3 public hearing on a proposed sale of 205 South 6th Avenue to Glen and Jan Andersen for $9,500.
The Templeton City Council on Aug. 6, 2024, voted to finalize the sale of a city-owned lot at 207 South 6th Avenue and set a public hearing on a separate proposed sale of 205 South 6th Avenue.
Councilmember Tasha Goecke moved to adopt Resolution No. 1411-24 authorizing execution and delivery of a warranty deed conveying Lot 4, Block 1 of the West Ridge Addition (207 South 6th Avenue) to Mathu and Lacey Meiners for $9,500; Councilmember Dave Ramsey seconded the motion and, after roll call, Mayor Ken F. Behrens declared the resolution passed. The resolution notes that the city published notice of the proposal in the Carroll Daily Times Herald on Aug. 2, 2024, and that no objections were filed before the final action.
Earlier in the meeting the council had approved the real estate contract for the same property (motion by Councilmember Tasha Goecke, second by Cory Drees) and authorized Mayor Behrens and City Clerk Nicci Kathol to sign documents necessary to complete the transfer (motion by Cory Drees, second by Tasha Goecke). The meeting record shows the motions carried with all members present voting in favor; Councilmembers present were Tasha Goecke, Cory Drees and Dave Ramsey; Mark Bauer and Joe Irlbeck were absent.
The council also adopted Resolution No. 1412-24, introduced by Councilmember Cory Drees, declaring the city's intent to sell Lot 3, Block 1 of the West Ridge Addition (205 South 6th Avenue) to Glen and Jan Andersen for $9,500 and directing the City Clerk to publish notice of a public hearing as required by Iowa Code sections 364.7 and 362.3. The published notice will set the hearing for 7:00 p.m. on Sept. 3, 2024, at Templeton City Hall.
With no further business, the council adjourned at 7:15 a.m. following a motion by Councilmember Dave Ramsey and a second by Councilmember Tasha Goecke.
