Templeton council adopts resolution to sell city property at 207 S. 6th Ave., schedules Aug. 6 hearing

The Templeton City Council voted July 31 to adopt Resolution No. 1409-24, declaring its intent to sell city-owned real estate at 207 South 6th Avenue to Mathu and Lacey Meiners for $9,500 and scheduling a public hearing on the proposed sale for 7 a.m. on Aug. 6, 2024, at City Hall. Council member Cory Drees introduced and moved the resolution; Council member Dave Ramsey seconded, and all council members present voted aye.
The resolution describes the property as “Lot 4, Block 1, West Ridge Addition to the City of Templeton, Carroll County” and directs the City Clerk to publish notice of the hearing. The resolution cites Iowa Code Section 364.7 as the authority requiring a public hearing before disposing of municipal real estate and Iowa Code Section 362.3 for publication timing. The notice is to be published at least once not more than 20 days nor less than four days prior to the hearing, per the resolution text.
Mayor Ken F. Behrens and City Clerk Nicci Kathol are recorded on the resolution. The council also approved the meeting agenda at the outset by unanimous vote. With no further business, Council member Dave Ramsey moved to adjourn at 12:10 p.m.; Council member Tasha Goecke seconded and the motion carried.
The next procedural step for the sale is the public hearing on Aug. 6, where electors will have an opportunity to present comments before the council proceeds with any final sale action.
