Templeton council approves permit, park tree removal and small donation; discusses lagoon use with distillery

Council Member Joe Irlbeck moved, and Cory Drees seconded, to approve a building permit for 207 S. 6th Ave; the minutes record the motion but do not record a roll call or vote for that specific item. The council also discussed a citizen complaint about a sidewalk at the corner of S. Main Street and 2nd Street and asked City Clerk Nicci Kathol to contact the property owner about repairs.
On park maintenance, the council discussed removal of evergreen trees at City Park and instructed Public Works to remove the trees. Council approved a $100 donation to the Iowa Highway 141 Garage Sale Association (motion by Mark Bauer, seconded by Joe Irlbeck). Under maintenance and mayoral reports the minutes note a DNR inspection of the lagoons with results pending and that Pavement Doctor performed patch work in town. Mayor Ken F. Behrens reported a meeting with consultants Veenstra & Kimm and representatives of Templeton Distillery to discuss options for using the city lagoon; the minutes do not record further technical details or any decision on lagoon use.
The meeting adjourned at 7:52 p.m. on a motion by Joe Irlbeck, seconded by Cory Drees; all present voted to adjourn.
