Police Superintendent Kenneth Lawson introduced organizers Renee Stewart and Shepard Horton at the Whitpain Township Board meeting on May 20 to preview a free community carnival scheduled for June 13, 2026.
Stewart said the festival, called "Flowers Still Grow," honors her children who died in a 1994 fire in West Ambler and that the event has expanded each year "with support from family, friends, and the community." The organizers emphasized the festival is free and intended for families, offering food, entertainment and activities at no cost.
Horton said they prefer to hold the event in Whitpain Township because that is where Stewart's children lost their lives, and he noted the organizers are coordinating with the Police Chief regarding the event location and logistics. Vice Chair Kimberly J. Klauder thanked the organizers and said she remembered the children.
The board did not take any formal action on the event during the meeting. The carnival is scheduled for June 13, 2026; organizers and Police Department staff will complete event planning and logistics outside of the board meeting record.
