Moose Lake council signs off on campground seasonal rate increases for 2025

Staff presented the Park Board’s recommendation and benchmarking data showing area comparators charge more for comparable services. The current proposed rates will move standard (no sewer) seasonal sites from $2,100 to $2,500 per season and premium (with sewer) sites from $2,500 to $2,800 per season. Staff noted that regional averages — when converted to monthly and seasonal equivalencies — are substantially higher than Moose Lake’s current rates and that many people on the campground wait list indicated the proposed prices were acceptable.
Council voted to add the amended fee schedule to the 2025 fee schedule. Councilors said the increase helps align city charges with regional peers while keeping utility costs included for seasonal sites. Staff will publish updated fees once the 2025 schedule is finalized.
Why it matters: The change increases seasonal revenue for the parks department and brings city rates closer to the local market, which staff said will help cover maintenance and expanded amenities.
