Commission approves PVTA reappointment, ambulance sale, security contract and budget revisions

The Pendleton County Commission on June 16, 2026, unanimously approved a slate of routine motions including an appointment to the Potomac Valley Transit Authority (PVTA), the sale of a surplus ambulance, a courthouse security-monitoring contract, and assorted in-house budget transfers.
On a motion by Commissioner Roger Dahmer the commission reappointed Commissioner Carl Hevener to the PVTA board for a three-year term beginning July 1, 2026. The commission accepted the high bid of $5,500 from Rob & Debbie Mixon for a 1997 ambulance on a motion by Commissioner Jimmie Bennett. The county also accepted a three-year monitoring contract from Hawk Security at $348 per year.
The commission approved multiple in-house budget revisions on a motion by Commissioner Bennett; the net of increases and decreases reported in the packet totaled $48,577.48 and moved funds among County Commission, Circuit Clerk, Assessor, Agri Agent, Courthouse, Emergency Services and E-911 accounts. The county set Pendleton Community Bank and Burke & Herbert Bank as fiscal year 2027 depositories and approved continuation of a 20% allocation of the county’s share of the State payment under the Secure Rural Schools Act.
Other routine business included the presentation of a $17,745 2024 Emergency Management Performance Grant and a report from the CVB Director that the America 250 mural project is moving forward with a target completion date of June 30; the commission also approved listed tax exonerations. All recorded votes on these items were unanimous among the three commissioners present: Carl Hevener, Roger Dahmer and Jimmie Bennett.
The meeting adjourned and is scheduled to reconvene on July 7, 2026.
