She noted the last day of the school year is tomorrow (a half day) and described summer professional development plans, mediation training and summer summit work. Mrs. Franklin said the state extended the MCAPS portal deadline to Aug. 14 to assist districts closing out the year.
Business manager Mrs. Conttos provided an update on Bartlett High renovation logistics and surplus furniture planning, describing site work that will run for about eight weeks including new curbing, sidewalks, asphalt milling and repaving. Regarding building systems, she reported that a circulation pump at Park was replaced after the pump failure; diagnostics also showed climate‑control instability and "some spaces on the third floor getting into the upper 80s" during a heat event. Additional remediation work is planned and staff were asked not to cover vents while the system is stabilized.
Mrs. Conttos presented a two‑page catalogue of surplus furniture items — roughly 700 line items — and the committee voted to declare the listed items surplus and to authorize the superintendent and finance director to auction, donate or otherwise dispose of them “in conjunction with the provisions for Mass General Law 3 and B” as referenced in the presentation.
Votes: the surplus declaration motion passed by roll call; the committee directed staff to manage disposition and return updates as items are removed from inventory and redistributed or sold.
