Aberdeen School District board approves a slate of policy updates tied to recent state rules

The board also approved DIIB clarifying available fund types, FD addressing use and borrowing of capital outlay funds, and IGBI allowing the superintendent to assign students to alternate settings for aggressive or violent behavior.
Health and safety changes included updates to JLCD (JLCD‑R and JLCD‑E) to permit students with diabetes to self‑administer medication under a diabetic plan and to authorize intranasal epinephrine as an option in addition to injectable epinephrine; board members noted medical oversight by Dr. Lazir for nurse consultation and prescriptions. The board also added the word “coach” to mandatory reporter language in JLF and JLF‑R. Multiple board members observed these policy updates reflect state rules that take effect July 1; the board moved and carried each second reading by voice vote.
