Lithonia council approves Sage financial software in $36,000-a-year contract

The Lithonia City Council voted Jan. 5, 2026 to approve Sage as the city's new financial software, a contract the finance director said will cost about $36,000 a year and is expected to be implemented before the spring budget cycle.
Finance Director Miss Lisa Diggs told council members the staff evaluated three vendors and recommended Sage because it supports the city's government treasury platform, automates accounts-payable workflows and produces unified financial reports. "We decided to go with Sage because it gives us everything that we want," Diggs said, adding the system will allow staff to track grant reimbursements, invoices and other revenue streams.
Diggs said Sage will integrate with the city's existing payroll provider and can provide up to 10 view-only accounts for councilors. On implementation timing she said staff would begin work the month the council approved the contract and aim to finish by April so the platform is ready for budget preparation. "Once they load all of our data in there, we will [have] projections," she said.
The contract cost disclosed to the council was $36,000 per year for the initial term, with technical support included in the price. Diggs told the council the selected vendor sat in the middle of the price range of three options considered and that the city expects savings compared with other packages and reduced manual work currently done in QuickBooks.
A council member moved to approve Sage as the city's financial software; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote. The transcript records the passage without a roll-call tally.
Council members asked clerical and access questions during the presentation, including how reports would be delivered and whether councilors would have view-only access. Diggs said reports could be emailed or generated by the system and that the mayor and up to nine additional users could be configured with view permission.
