After returning from executive session, the board accepted the resignation of Arisha Norman. Superintendent Dr. Cunningham then presented a slate of hires including Brittney McKinney for LCES assistant principal; Thomas Madison for LCHS English teacher; Allison Eckols for LCHS health care science teacher; Jacqueline Cobb for LCHS business teacher; Jessica Mack for Lincoln County Middle School special education teacher; Britney Cartledge for LCMS social studies teacher; Alicia Leverett as LCES special education paraprofessional; Harold Bennett as substitute custodian; Dale Dawn Lambert Jones as substitute teacher; and Maddie Christian as substitute school nutrition staff. The board also rescinded a previously tendered resignation for Anna Duckan.
Most recommendations passed by voice vote. The transcript records recorded abstentions by Mr. Madison on several of the personnel votes and at least one abstention by another member on the middle school teacher list due to a family relationship. For example, while the board approved hiring Brittney McKinney as assistant principal, the transcript notes an abstention by Mr. Madison on that vote. The superintendent asked for and received motions and seconds on each recommendation; votes were taken and reported as 'All in favor' or with the noted abstentions.
The board subsequently approved teacher recommendation lists for elementary, middle and high schools as presented, with the recorded abstentions noted in the meeting minutes. The actions will be implemented by human resources and school principals once standard onboarding steps are complete.
