Stonington — Selectmen reviewed a draft contract with CCI (Consolidated) to expand broadband service in parts of Stonington and asked for clarifications before moving forward.
Town Manager Billings said the contract mirrors a similar agreement used by a neighboring town and that Consolidated representatives were available to answer questions. Selectman Travis Fifield said he had not received the document in time to review it at the meeting and asked TM to re-send it. Selectmen focused discussion on a paragraph about extra charges for unforeseen work and on the contract timeline.
TM said the project aims to extend service to the Airport/North Stonington area and that CCI would be the provider of last resort for homes lacking service. The board asked TM to follow up with the provider to confirm the language about scope changes and any additional fees.
What happens next: TM will resend the contract to board members, ask Consolidated to clarify the disputed paragraph and provide a timeline for work; the board deferred action until that follow-up is complete.
