Elkin said the ICC is not ready to take possession of the building this year and asked for another year to work through financing, surveying and other acquisition steps.
Town Manager Billings and Selectmen asked for the ICC’s financial details and said they would review the organization’s current rental agreement and any extension language before determining whether the transaction would require a town meeting vote. The town manager said the ICC is considering adding staff positions such as a development person and that the ICC’s operating budget — including positions and capital needs — could be on the order of several hundred thousand dollars once expansion and fundraising plans are included.
Evelyn Duncan asked directly about ICC finances; the board agreed to reconvene on the matter after reviewing the ICC’s financial statement and the rental agreement’s extension terms.
