At the Jan. 5 Rose Creek City Council meeting, Kretta Menuey of the Creek Club described recent volunteer work: the club sponsored gifts for shut-ins and a family of six, distributed funds from the Southland Foundation for a relief fund and a closet, and said Spring Flings in March will require a liquor-license application. Menuey asked for volunteers for future events.
Public Works/Maintenance Aaron Wagner reported on operations: the council reached a consensus to leave snow in the middle of county streets for later removal, Wagner signed up for wastewater certification training in February, and he raised the possibility of trading in an older tractor (estimated trade-in value about $8,000 toward a $30,000 4WD tractor). Council discussion tabled the tractor purchase for later consideration.
Council Member Tom Lewison moved to approve paying invoices and payroll; Council Member Wendel Sprung seconded and Mayor Andrew Leisen approved the motion. The council also set a special meeting for Feb. 20 to discuss yearly reviews, the budget and the personnel policy. The meeting adjourned at 8:05 p.m.
