Planning Commission reviews subdivision types, readies for Minor Subdivision application

The City of Rock Creek Planning Commission used a slow agenda on May 19, 2025, to review subdivision types and to prepare for an upcoming Minor Subdivision application.
Commissioner Nancy Rys presented a postcard she received from a realtor advertising a local property as developable and suggested it as a training exercise for the commission. Members discussed differences among cluster developments, minor subdivisions and platted subdivisions, reviewed past scenarios and the rationale for limits on how many times a lot can be split to avoid "airplane strip" parcels, and agreed to use similar exercises when the agenda is light.
Deputy Clerk Ashley Rauschnot told members a Minor Subdivision application for Cole Newman is expected next month if all required documents arrive at the city office at least 21 days before the meeting. She asked commissioners to be on the lookout for the materials.
The discussion was preparatory and informational; no formal land-use decisions were taken at this meeting.
