The Education and Policy Committee recommended revisions on June 23 to policy file H‑13 to update the schedule of student fees, fines and charges without changing the policy’s wording.
A presenter explained the changes were intended to create uniform fee collection across the district. The schedule sets a maximum band fee of $100 for grades 7–8 (cannot exceed this amount) and raises the maximum band fee for grades 9–12 to $350. The fee for DECA classes was removed because those classes are no longer offered.
During discussion, board members asked about fee waivers for students who volunteer or earn fee credits through summer activities; the presenter said there are activities that allow students to earn fee waivers or reductions. The motion to adopt the updated schedule was made, seconded and recorded as passed by the committee.
The revisions were advanced to the full board for approval.
