Walcott council approves consent agenda, records finances; directs staff on ADA parking near Water Tower Park

The Walcott City Council on Nov. 17 approved its consent agenda and reviewed financial reports and invoices, and directed staff to move forward on adding accessible parking near Water Tower Park.
The consent agenda — which included approval of invoices, minutes from Nov. 3 and October 2025 financial reports — was moved by Council member Kirk Koberg and seconded by Everett Bieri. The roll-call ayes were Koberg, Bieri, Harry Knutsen, Jacob Puck and Lisa Mengler.
The minutes and attached ledger show a subtotal of accounts payable and vendor invoices of $68,997.74, payroll for the Nov. 7 pay period of $32,731.21, and a grand total of expenditures of $122,942.50. Line items named in the ledger include MidAmerican Energy, Menards, Republic Services, Wellmark and bond interest payments of $22,000.00. The October revenue summary lists total receipts of $1,011,603.99, with the General Fund at $466,402.02 and TIF at $235,853.69.
On accessibility, staff member Paul Stagg presented options for adding ADA parking spaces on Main Street adjacent to Water Tower Park. Council consensus was to move forward with adding spaces, subject to meeting grade requirements for the specific locations. Council member Kirk Koberg moved and Jacob Puck seconded to revisit the ADA parking item at the April meeting; the motion carried. Stagg is recorded as the staff contact who will provide quotes at the April meeting.
Mayor John Kostichek thanked Walcott Day Committee volunteers for installing holiday decorations at Welcome Park, and Council member Lisa Mengler announced a lighting ceremony at Welcome Park scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 23. The council adjourned at 6:21 p.m.
