Lake of the Woods board approves minutes, personnel hires, policies and accepts $50 donation; audit adopted

The Lake of the Woods School District board carried a package of routine actions by voice vote at its Nov. 25, 2024 working session.
Motions approved included: the Nov. 25, 2024 agenda; approval of the Oct. 28, 2024 regular-meeting minutes and the Nov. 13 canvassing minutes; acceptance of the district financial statements, bank reconciliations and purchase-card statements; and approval of personnel appointments. The personnel list recorded in the meeting packet included hires and assignments such as Jonathan Mesenbrink (part-time custodian recommendation), Jeff Nelson (bus driver), Ava Hack (lifeguard) and several winter coaching staff appointments (names as read aloud by the clerk were recorded in the minutes).
The board also approved a bundle of policy updates by motion, including policy 411 (harassment/violence), policy 416 (drug, alcohol and cannabis testing), policy 425 (staff development and mentoring), policy 507 (corporal punishment/prone restraint), policy 509 (enrollment of non-resident students), policy 512 (school-sponsored student publication and activities), policy 515 (protection and privacy of pupil records), policy 516 (medication and health), and policy 608 (instructional services — special education). All policy motions were adopted by voice vote.
A resolution accepting a $50 donation from Mount Carmel WCA for the backpack program (resolution 2024-22-21 as recorded in the packet) passed by voice vote. Later in the meeting the board approved the fiscal year 2024 audit and adopted the World's Best Workforce plan; the board also approved a resolution calling the district general election for the next cycle.
