Boil order issued for South Sunset Street; IDOT extends 30 mph limits at several town approaches

During the Nov. 10 meeting, Commissioner Joshua L. Kuhnert announced a boil order affecting residents on South Sunset Street; the order remains in effect "until further notice," according to council minutes. Residents in the affected area should follow boil-water precautions until the city or health authority lifts the advisory.
Mayor Spencer summarized an Illinois Department of Transportation traffic safety study that changed posted speeds approaching Pinckneyville: IDOT extended the 30 mph limit west to the Dollar General Store, extended 30 mph on the east side near the Jr. High School (the stretch east from Beaucoup Street had previously been 40 mph), and set the south approach (south side of the viaduct) to 30 mph. "The City got what it requested from IDOT," Mayor Spencer said.
Commissioner Sammy D. Peradotta also outlined local Veterans Day events scheduled in town, including a free breakfast for veterans at Pinckneyville Community Hospital sponsored by First Baptist Church, an 11 a.m. Veterans Day celebration at the Perry County Courthouse, and a Blue and Gold Star dedication at the city park veterans memorial hosted by the Pinckneyville Garden Club.
The council did not announce a specific end date for the boil order during the meeting; residents should monitor city communications for updates.
