Rec Board approves $2,000 equipment allocation for Conrad’s Youth Baseball and sets field‑maintenance items

Ray Schroeder told the Chanceford Township Recreation Board on Jan. 27 that a new nonprofit LLC, Conrad’s Youth Baseball, has been formed and currently fields three teams, including recreation and travel squads.
Following Schroeder’s report, the board approved a motion (moved by Kent Heffner and seconded by Leah Geesey) directing the board’s yearly $2,000 donation to Conrad’s Youth Baseball be used to purchase equipment. The motion was recorded as carried.
Board members noted that Diamond Tex — a field material used across the township’s ballfields — is scheduled to arrive next week. The board also agreed to schedule a Volunteer Day to work on the batting cage area at the Township Building.
Kevin Keesey asked whether the Old Timers League would be allowed to use the fields; the question was recorded but no formal decision was made during the meeting. Board members directed Adam Norris to determine and report back on the status of girls softball and its funding.
Separately, the board voted to advertise the 2025 mowing and portable‑toilet bid (motion by Leah Geesey, seconded by Adam Norris). The board also discussed possible future capital projects at the New Bridgeville fields, including conversion of tennis courts to pickleball, walking trails and a parking lot; no budgets or timelines were adopted.
