Dawson County Board of Equalization approves minutes, vehicle exemption and valuation changes

The Dawson County Board of Equalization met June 22, 2026, in the Commissioners’ Room in Lexington and unanimously approved three routine items during a session called to order by Chairman PJ Jacobson.
Commissioner Bill Stewart moved to approve the June 1, 2026 regular meeting minutes; Commissioner Kevin Swanson seconded and the board voted aye—Rod Reynolds, Bill Stewart, Joe Richeson, Kevin Swanson and PJ Jacobson—with no nays. The motion carried.
Commissioner Rod Reynolds moved to approve an application for exemption submitted by Calvary Assembly of God for a 2014 Toyota Sienna; Commissioner Joe Richeson seconded. The board voted unanimously to grant the exemption.
Assessor Nic VanCura presented a list of Notices of Valuation Change covering June 1–June 19, 2026 for assessment year 2026, describing adjustments for overvalued, undervalued, clerical errors and omitted real property. Commissioner Reynolds moved to accept the list; Commissioner Richeson seconded. The board voted aye unanimously to accept the report.
Chairman PJ Jacobson adjourned the meeting at 9:02 a.m. County Clerk Michaela Arndt certified that notice requirements were met, that the agenda had been available to the public, and that the minutes would be kept on file and available for inspection prior to the next convened meeting.
