The Greene City Council voted April 6 to approve Resolution 2026-03, adopting the proposed tax levy for the 2026–2027 budget during a special session at the Greene Community Center.
Mayor Galen Lindell presided over the meeting that began at 5:30 p.m. Council members Vicky Malfero, Audrey Smith, Brian Uhlenhopp and Rodney Fesenmeyer (via phone) were present; Al Zweck was absent. The council first voted to approve the meeting agenda before opening a public hearing on the proposed levy.
During the public hearing a question was raised about how much the city pays toward employee health insurance. The meeting record states there are two plans available to employees: high-deductible plans the city pays 100% of family coverage for, and low-deductible plans the city pays 93% of (the record does not specify which employees selected which plan).
With no further questions or written comments, the council closed the hearing and moved to finalize the levy. On a motion recorded as Malfero (mover) and Fesenmeyer (second) for the resolution, the council approved Resolution 2026-03 to adopt the proposed tax levy; the roll call recorded ayes from Malfero, Smith, Uhlenhopp and Fesenmeyer and listed Zweck as absent.
The council then voted to adjourn; Malfero moved and Uhlenhopp seconded, and the meeting ended at 5:35 p.m. The record does not indicate any final adoption of a budget beyond the approved proposed levy or specify further dates for public notices or final adoption steps.
