Greene council approves lifeguard wage hikes, umbrellas and epoxy work for pool

The Greene City Council on April 13 approved Pool Board recommendations to raise wages for returning lifeguards and the pool manager and to authorize purchases to be paid from the pool fundraising account.
Nikki Miller, representing the Pool Board, presented proposed wage increases for returning lifeguards: 1st year $11.00, 2nd year $11.50, 3rd year $12.00 and 4th year $12.40, and proposed increasing the pool manager wage from $14.00 to $15.00. The council approved the wage increases on a motion by Audrey Smith, seconded by Vicky Malfero; the minutes record the motion carried on a roll call vote with all five councilmembers voting aye.
The Pool Board also requested authorization to purchase umbrellas with stands and to hire Shane Leavens to epoxy the zero-entry area; the council approved those purchases and specified the work and umbrellas will be paid for from the pool’s fundraising account. "The pool board is proposing an increase to returning wages... and would also like to have approval to purchase umbrellas with stands and to hire Shane Leavens to epoxy the zero entry, all paid for with their fundraising account," the minutes state.
The minutes do not record individual lifeguards’ names or the total cost of the purchases; funding will come from the pool board’s fundraising account and no city general-fund expenditure for these items is recorded in the minutes.
