Greene council adopts FY2026–27 budget, approves seal coating and other capital items

After opening a public hearing on the fiscal year 2026–27 budget and hearing no written or oral comments, the Greene City Council on April 13 adopted Resolution 2026-04 approving the city’s budget for 2026–27.
Councilmember Rodney Fesenmeyer moved to close the hearing; Vicky Malfero seconded, and the motion carried on a roll call of ayes. The council then approved the resolution on a motion that recorded the five councilmembers as voting in favor.
During the meeting the council also approved specific budgeted capital and maintenance items: seal coating ($40,200), asphalt repairs ($12,000), sewer main cleaning ($11,900) and a park mower ($4,000). The motion to approve those budget items carried on a roll call vote recorded in the minutes.
The minutes state the 4th Street Water Main Project is funded largely through grants or loan forgiveness and that no resident assessments are expected; detailed construction timing and logistics will be confirmed in preconstruction meetings, the minutes said.
The resolution takes effect upon adoption and the council’s next administrative steps include coordinating project preconstruction meetings and notifying affected residents about schedule and access arrangements.
