Commission approves advertising of GL Homes workforce‑housing code revision to fix timing ‘glitch’

Kevin Rada, REAP vice president for GL Homes, told the board the draft language is intended to “fix the glitch” that emerged during consideration of a prior project (referred to in the hearing as The Falls). Rada said the applicant and staff have worked to align language and will continue to refine the ordinance before final readings. “The language before you is fixing the glitch,” he said.
Commissioners agreed the issue warranted initiation; Commissioner Flores moved to adopt the agenda item and the motion to give permission to advertise for the workforce‑housing text amendment carried 7–0. Staff said the privately initiated amendment stems from earlier conversations and committed to work with the applicant on final language before the ordinance proceeds to first reading and later adoption.
Next steps: the board’s vote authorizes advertisement and public hearings; staff will finalize draft ordinance language in consultation with the applicant and return the amendment for formal readings and public comment.
