Mayor: City Hall south sidewalk, steps deteriorated; replacement expected to line up with street project

Mayor Stephen A. Condon told the Lakefield City Council on Feb. 17 that the south sidewalk and steps at City Hall deteriorated over the winter and need repair or replacement. He said the city hopes to secure funding and anticipates construction could begin in late spring or summer to coincide with a scheduled street project.
The council also recorded routine committee and board schedules: the Economic Development Authority will meet March 6 at noon; the Local Public Utilities (LPU) meeting is scheduled for March 17 at 4:00 p.m.; the Park Board meets March 9 at 4:30 p.m.; and Planning & Zoning will meet Feb. 23 at 4:30 p.m. City Clerk Holly Rademacher noted there was no financial report this evening because staff are preparing for the city audit. Department reports were presented with no questions.
On procedural business the council approved the meeting agenda and the Feb. 2 minutes on motions by Councilmember Heather Hussong-Reasoner, seconded by Councilmember Jeff Paplow. The meeting adjourned at 7:08 p.m. after a motion to adjourn by Paplow, seconded by Hussong-Reasoner; all present voted in favor.
No formal funding appropriation for the sidewalk was recorded at the meeting; Mayor Condon described the need and timetable as contingent on securing funds and coordinating with the street project.
