Eufaula City Council adopts resolutions, awards demolition contract and approves liquor license

The Eufaula City Council on Feb. 17 approved multiple routine resolutions and motions, awarding a Phase III demolition contract and clearing several administrative items.
The council voted to award the CDBG Phase III Demolition and Clearance Contract (Project LR-CE-PF-24-019) to Lewis, Inc. of Headland, Alabama, for $86,400 to remove five public nuisance residential properties and one commercial nuisance property. President Wes Register introduced Resolution 15‑2026; President Pro Tem Otis Hill moved approval and Councilman Marvin Brown seconded. The resolution passed in official session.
The council also adopted Resolution 13‑2026 to continue purchasing gasoline and diesel from the Alabama State bid list under a 12‑month contract with an option to extend. President Register introduced the resolution; President Pro Tem Hill moved approval and Councilman Ben Garrison seconded. The body approved the measure by voice vote.
Resolution 14‑2026 authorized the city to contract with Bakerhill Lawn & Tree Service for tree removal at Weedon Field Airport. The Public Works Director presented two quotes; Bakerhill submitted the low bid of $3,700. President Register introduced the resolution; Councilman Ben Garrison moved approval and Councilman James Bailey seconded. The resolution was adopted by voice vote.
In other actions the council approved a BWL (beer, wine and liquor) on‑premise retail license for Rivers Enterprises LLC doing business as Graffitis Bar and Pizzeria at 1768 South Eufaula Avenue; Councilman Ben Garrison moved approval and President Pro Tem Otis Hill seconded.
The council reappointed Tim Brannon to the Southeast Solid Waste Authority for a four‑year term ending Feb. 8, 2030, following a motion by Councilman James Bailey. Councilman Marvin Brown was elected to fill a vacant seat on the Southeast Solid Waste Authority after Councilman Bailey nominated him and the council conducted a roll call vote in his favor; his term also expires Feb. 8, 2030.
The consent agenda, approved earlier in the meeting, included the regular session minutes of Feb. 3, 2026, a Prepaid Claims Docket dated Jan. 31, 2026, in the amount of $1,840,136.12 and a Claims Docket dated Feb. 10, 2026, in the amount of $277,612.50.
The council adjourned after briefly hearing committee reports and departmental updates. The next work session is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.
