Lieutenant Sean Ler delivered the Rockville police department's report during the July 10 council meeting.
Ler said the 2024 contract totals 456 hours. Through June, the department had recorded 222 contract hours compared with 228.50 at the same point last year, a shortfall of about 6.75 hours. For the month of June the department recorded 352 contract hours, 79 calls for service and 50 traffic stops.
Ler said enforcement activity in June resulted in DWIs and a second-degree gross misdemeanor charge among other outcomes and that officers issued 23 citations for a range of violations the transcript lists as failure to stop, speeding, giving a false name, noise violations, driving after revocation and equipment violations. He also referenced a Lions Park complaint recorded on July 6 and said the call was located in departmental records.
The update was presented as part of routine department reports and no vote or formal direction was recorded in the transcript.
