Council will not pay for property coverage for Veteran’s Memorial; liability remains covered

Ellen Henning asked the City Council on Aug. 12 whether the city would insure the Veteran’s Memorial. Amber Bertrand, city clerk, said she contacted the League for pricing and was told $100,000 of property coverage would cost an additional $570 per year; she added that liability coverage is already provided while the memorial sits on city property.
Council members discussed the cost and on a motion by Kathryn Weber, seconded by Kris Weidert, voted to decline the property-coverage option and to provide only liability coverage for the memorial. Amber will notify Henning of the council’s decision.
The motion to cover liability only was recorded as duly passed.
