Lismore council approves financials, OKs $200 battery jump pack and tables Ash-tree treatment

The City of Lismore Council met Oct. 7, 2024; Mayor Wayne Bents called the meeting to order and the council approved the agenda and the minutes from the Sept. 10 meeting. Council member Kris Weidert moved to approve the agenda, seconded by Cliff Altman; the motion was recorded as duly passed. Council member Cliff Altman moved to approve the Sept. 10 minutes, seconded by Kris Weidert; that motion also passed.
Amber Bertrand, city clerk, presented the monthly financial statement, including deposits and invoices from the prior month. On a motion by Council member Kris Weidert, seconded by Tory Bohlke, the council approved the financial statement, authorized payment of invoices and directed the stated transfers. The minutes record the motions as “duly passed”; specific vote tallies were not provided in the minutes.
During the maintenance report, Josh said fall clean-up went well and that he, Council member Cliff Altman, Mayor Wayne Bents and Dan Diekmann spent a day filling road dips on Corey Avenue. Josh recommended the city purchase a battery jump pack and presented options; on a motion by Cliff Altman, seconded by Tory Bohlke, the council approved buying a jump pack for no more than $200. The purchase cap was recorded in the minutes as a condition of approval.
Resident Ken Leinen raised concerns about Emerald Ash Borer and recommended treating ash trees in the park with a product he identified as ACECAP. Council members said they were receptive but chose to table any action on tree treatment until spring, leaving the decision to the incoming council at that time.
Amber Bertrand also reported that deeds for a recent land sale were sent and that she will record the deeds along with the survey; once recording is complete, the minutes state that Davi Bullerman may proceed to sell the parcel. Josh reported that the border wall on the north side of the new shop has been completed. The fire department and clerk each reported no additional items.
With no further business, Council member Kris Weidert moved to adjourn, seconded by Tory Bohlke; the motion passed and the meeting adjourned. The council set its next meeting for Nov. 12, 2024, at 6:00 p.m.
